These are the violet days. Early to mid-April, when half of my yard is overtaken by violets. They aren't really violets, but I call them that. True violets are really purple and have round, fuzzy leaves. These things are more medium blue and have long, skinny leaves. Whatever. Work slowed down to a near dead stop, just as my non-work life suddenly picked up. My job is heavily tied to the high school year, so everything I do goes away for the holidays, plus a few days. Friday night the immediate family and I went and saw Johan Santana, of all people, get schooled by the friggin' Tampa Bay Devil Rays 4-2. We've got to stop making the Twins our family outing of choice. We're like poison to them.
